Ariel Chylde is the
Darkchylde. A sweet, innocent, young girl with a kind heart and the cursed ability to
summon creatures from the nightmare realm. Abused by her
adoptive father as a child, something
inside her snapped resulting is his death, and her first summoning. She presents an
interesting contrast between her beauty on the outside and the evil she commands within.
Since the events covered in the mini-series, Ariel has left Salem in search of herself.

Ariel's romantic
interest. Forced apart by an unfortunate incident in which Ariel assumed the form of Fang,
a giant dragon, and killed his father. At present Perry is on his way to college to take
up a scholarship and seems unlikely to meet up with his sweetheart again. Yeah right!
Perry is a fundamental part of Ariel's motivation and, after meeting Jessica, is likely to
go in search of her. There is destiny at work here.

Brought to earth from
the nightmare realm by Sage, War serves as Ariel's primary protector. With his formidable
size and kind heart, War has become one of the most endearing characters in Randy's
ongoing saga.

The brains of the War
& Piece dynamic. Blessed with a wickedly funny sense of humor and a sweet nature,
Piece completes the most thoroughly enjoyable partnership in the history of comic books.
That's just my humble opinion of course. It still remains to be seen just how much Piece
really knows about Ariel's past. For now, he isn't talking.

The
manifested spirit of Ariel's mother, Sage acts as an advisor to
her daughter and powerful force for good in the nightmare realm.
At this point Ariel isn't aware of the relation but,
after events in issue #0, the seeds of suspicion may
have at least been planted.

Jeremy is a mystery at
present. He appears to be a young boy who commands the absolute respect of men far
superior in years and proportion. One can only assume that he is the possessor of a great
power. Perhaps his apparent youth hides an old soul? Only time will tell. For the moment
he appears to be on the side of good and has offered Ariel the opportunity to travel with
his Carnival of Fools.

Perry's father and a
former agent of paranormal research group, Sentry. He left the organization after helping
Ariel escape horendous experiements. Jack died in the fifth installment of the Mini-Series
when Ariel, in the form Fang, accidentally fried him. It is this event that forms the core
