Her friend Kiley

In a story from Ariel's past, she races with her best friend Kiley through the woods near the Chylde residence.  As our hero professes her admiration for her brash young friend, the story quickly gathers pace as they race faster and faster into the depths.  With night descending, and the the stories antagonist, - the forest - drawing down upon them, Kiley falls down a poorly covered hole. Ariel does her best to save her, but when her strength fails, Kiley falls. The story closes with a now grown-up Ariel crying at the scene.
